And for my first review of the year, it won’t even be a figure, but the Nendoroid School Life A and B Playsets by Phat Company (GoodSmile Company?). Also it’s been a while since I’ve done a 4Koma, so I’ve done another Nanoha one using the set ^_^;;
I remember when these sets were first announced several months ago, and I was like MUST GET, however Hobby Search seemed to have run out of Pre-orders in like 1 hour! Luckily, they seem came up for pre-order again, and I nabbed both of them up!
Playset A is the left side of the classroom with the clear window on the left.
Playset B is the right side of the Classroom with a moving sliding door. You know, without both sets I kind of feel that there’s no point – you definitely need both if you’re going to get one. More than two however? You can stack them on top of each other, but I think it’s better for them to come up with a different type of set first and then join those together.
The set is a little too small in scale for Figmas as you can see in this shot. So for Figma comics, I’m going to have to use selective viewpoints so it’s not so obvious. By the way, apologies for the photo quality, I was experimenting without flash, and I seemed to have stuffed up. However, I’m too lazy to retake the shots, so I just sharpened them with Photoshop >_>
Playset A accessories include:
- Laptop Computer with working fliptop screen
- Sandwich
- Chalk
- Milk that can either have a strawberry flavour or normal milk sticker (I used strawberry, I love strawberry milk!)
- Blackboard duster
- Table
- Chair
- Open Notebook
- Pen
- Baseball Bat
Playset B on the other hand comes with the following:
- LCD Monitor (with adjustable stand)
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- Can’t remember the Japanese name for it, but it’s a sort of bun with noodles in it (yakisoba?)
- PC Tower Case
- Coffee (Again with your choice of sticker – not sure what the other sticker is actually, could be another flavour of coffee)
- Table (just like the A set)
- Chair (Just like the A set)
- Pen (Red this time)
- Closed Notebook
Now to put a few figures that the sets were actually made for – Nendoroids! Actually I’ve only got about 6 Nendoroids, compared to my 20+ Figmas >_<
Hmmm … what is L doing on the computer?
Naughty L!!!
Shana is mad because Haruhi and L are hogging both computers. One thing that kind of bothers me is that the blackboard has a big seam in the middle – though it can’t be helped since that’s the part where the two sets join together. The joining is quite firm however, as you use multiple plastic clips to hold them into place.
Well that’s it for now, I’m afraid. I’ve got a few more 4Komas that I was going to do, but I got tired. I’ve already written down the scripts for them, just too lazy to take more pics – plus I’m still experimenting how to get better quality without flash >_<
Are these sets worth the money? They are actually quite cheap really (1710 Yen each at Hobby Search), however I’m going to have to say that if you only have Figmas, they aren’t worth it – you’re better off getting 1:12 scale furniture from a Doll selling place so that they’ll be the right size. However if you have both Nendoroids and Figmas, then yes. The accessories are surprisingly quite detailed and even have moving parts in the case of the laptop and the LCD monitor. The accessories are the most detailed “doll bits” I have ever seen – Barbie eat your heart out.
I’ts also pretty damn cool to have a “base” for your figures. Similar to how you have the base sets for toys like He-man (Castle Greyskull) and Transformers (e.g. Metroplex) now you have a “base” for your Nendoroids and Figmas (if you don’t mind the scale difference). Also if you like taking photos of your figures, the sets can be quite a cool background to use, instead of the same old construction paper.
All in all, I give these sets an 8 / 10. And you HAVE to get them together … one set by itself is really lacking and would really only fit one Nendoroid -_-;;
Anyways gots to go! Look forward to more 4Komas soon
In regards to this 4Koma, I never knew what an “Indirect Kiss” was until I started watching Anime, and when I found out what it was, I kind of laughed as it’s something I never ever thought of. I might have shared drinks with female friends many times, but to be honest I never even thought of it being something like a kiss.
Have any of you ever shared an “Indirect Kiss” unwittingly? And people of the same sex (or sex you don’t go for) don’t count ^_^
Anyways really gotta go now ^_^ ~Ace
Didn’t know the playset can be stack onto each other. The amount of accessories that came with the playsets are cool too. Would really love to get these. But I only have 1 nendoroid so far, so priority has to be invest in more nendos first. ^_^”
Wow! Nice setup there. Loved the nasty L. I actually had a hard time with the SO MANY accessories!
Didn’t know that figmas look good there too.
I understand why L hardly sleeps..
He spents all his nights watching the monitor..hehe
Eltboy: Yeah if you only have 1 Nendo, priorities are priorities! Anyway it doesn’t look like these will go out of stock soon
Divine Fang: It takes some selective viewpoints to make the Figmas look like they’re the right size ^-^;;
Phossil: Thought there needs to be a balance with all the Yuri jokes on here lol! Also L’s face for this shot is just perfect.
Ah very nice! Now you have a setting to produce those awesome 4komas in. Everyone talks about figurines, but not many purchase backdrops for them. So, this is neat.
awesome!
i’m going to buy 2 nendoroids (my first nendoroids XD)
i will defently (spelled good?) buy those sets 😀
(ok, my english is bad today XD)
Nice blog but i’m having some minor problems with the design in Opera Browser, maybe i should change Browser!
