Asahina Mikuru 1/4 FREEing Figure Review

So whenever I do a Figure Review, I always go through the whole stack of pics I just took to decide which one should be the title pic. For Asahina Mikuru 1/4 Scale Figure by FREEing and GoodSmile Company, I think it’s going to have to be this one. Cheap yes?

My second favourite female character in Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu – if I’m going to shell out for the immense Haruhi, then I HAVE to get this figure also. And Mikuru is even more immense in certain places! Have to admit that Mikuru Figures are easily the funnest Haruhi Figures because of the teasing potential…

This box is even more gigantanormous than Haruhi’s was, even though the figure is roughly about the same size. The reason is because her right leg is stretched out a bit more. Amazing how a simple difference in leg position forces such a dratic increase to box size (and hence shipping cost – Maybe an EMS Employee decided on the pose?)

The box design is similar to Haruhi’s with the little clear plastic windows but obviously just a lot redder. It’s interesting because there have been studies in the colour of clothing that women wear that shows that it actually has a significant effect on the perceived attractiveness of that woman to a man. The studies have concluded that a woman wearing red, as opposed to any other colour would make it seem as if that woman was more attractive to a man, and a man was much more likely to ask a women in red out, than if not in red.

There you go! If you, the reader, are of the fairer sex, then you might want to store that little nugget of information and use it against us o_0;;. However the same trick does not work for a man to a woman. Which is good because I don’t like wearing red anyway ^_^;;

As with more Figures, they come wrapped in many layers of plastic wrap to protect the paint job. This time, learning from the Haruhi version, rather than commit sacrilege and decapitate poor Mikuru, I just cut the plastic carefully with my scissors

And here is Mikuru, Godzilla version, all unwrapped and out of her box and wrapping. No FREEing Figure review is complete without various mutterings of “she’s HUGE” and “ENORMOUS” so I’ll get that out of the way first. Huge! Enormous!

I’ve noticed that some people don’t like the fact that this Mikuru has a sad or worried expression. However, this is actually In-Character and what makes the figure Pure Mikuru. One of the most important aspects of a Figure to me is accuracy to the character design, and a smiling Mikuru just does not seem like Mikuru ^_^;;

Just like with Haruhi, she stands out because her outfit is extremely shiny, and she has real fishnet stockings. She is also Huge and Enormous. In case you didn’t notice already.

Again, just like with FREEing Haruhi, I’m pretty sure that these are decidedly larger than what was in the anime. And just like with Haruhi, this isn’t a complaint

And thus we come to the end of yet another Ace Figure Review(tm). I hope you enjoyed your stay. Oh, you’re wondering what score I gave this figure? Just like with Haruhi, this one also gets a 10/10. This Figure is absolute amazing, and Huge and Enormous to boot. I get the feeling I have said that a few times already.

Anyways, if you are a Mikuru Fan, (and you probably wouldn’t be here if you weren’t) your Figure collection will not be complete without this giant sitting proudly upon your desk or shelf. I do think she is still in stock at www.hlj.com and perhaps other retailers (don’t know) so if you are desperate to pick this up, I would not waste any time as she is sure to run out soon
